It seems we’ve been on a corn chip binge lately at MunchiesHQ and today we are doing a review of Wise Dipsy Doodles. One of the only competitors to Fritos that I can think of, Dipsy Doodles are one of my favorite childhood snacks. How did they fare a few years later with some additional reviewers chiming in though?
When I was a kid Wise’s Dipsy Doodles came in a bag that featured a clear section on the front so you could see the wavy-style corn chips waiting to be eaten. Today they come in a fancier bag with a very accurate picture of the chips on the front. When you open the bag you can immediately smell the salt and corn combo, a staple of any corn chip.
Wavy Dipsy Doodles can best be described as a cross between Fritos and Wavy Lays in terms of their texture. They are yellowish and with your first bite the corny, almost starchy crunch hits you. They are one of the simplest snacks you can find and I like that you don’t feel as heavy after eating a bag as you do when finishing off a bag of Fritos.
One thing these aren’t is healthy. You can definitely feel the large amounts of salt and they are a bit greasy if you eat them at once. However, for the money I think they are one of the better options available for something that is tasty from beginning to end. As opposed to flavored chips like Doritos Cool Ranch, I recommend eating these with some salsa like a more standard nacho corn chip, but they also go terrifically with a sandwich as a nice change from potato chips.
Although I have nothing but praise for Dipsy Doodles, I understand that not everyone enjoys plain corn chips (including my colleagues who reviewed them with me). For this reason I give them an Average grade, but if you enjoy corn chips and live in an area where these are distributed then definitely give these a go, I don’t think you will be disappointed. They have BBQ Dipsy Doodles which I hope to review as well.

I love corn chips. Ive never tried another brand other than Fritos. I’ll will have to give these a shot. I never liked the size and shape of Fritos. I always felt I couldnt pick up the right amount.
Correction made Steve thanks! If you like frito’s I think you should like em, they are thicker so they have more of a corny taste which I like personally.
I love the corn chips. They are really have a great crunch. They do have them at my stores anymore. I really miss them.
I love corn chips, but hands down Wise Dipsy Doodles have been a favorite since childhood. For many years, I couldn’t find the Wise brand anywhere, so I settled for Fritos. Given a choice it would be Dipsy all the way. The bold corn flavor, thicker chip, and slightly less salt make it a winner for me.
