When I saw the sort of upside-down bag of Somersaults Salty Pepper Nuggets it appealed to my pallet’s desire for a 2-in-1 taste. As you might have realized by now, I love combos and unique snacks, like PopCorners Popped Corn Chips in White Cheddar. So did this snack turn me on my head?
As with many snacks, Somersaults Salty Pepper Nuggets advertised its healthy nutritional claims on the front: all natural, 3g fiber and 7g protein, but so did Cadina’s Pea Corn Snacks and after tasting those I am skeptical that they held much nutritional value. However, this isn’t my number one criterion in giving a snack a good review.
These goodies taste a bit like sesame sticks, but with more texture and crunch. The tiny discs are a combination of sesame and sunflower seeds and the flavor is true to the salty pepper claim. The taste isn’t overpowering, rather the subtle flavors provide just enough to know that they are there. In fact, if the name weren’t on the front of the package, you might not even notice the combination, but would still be grateful for its presence.
You will find about 2 hearty handfuls of the snack (the bag I had claimed “almost 2” 15 piece servings), which is more than enough for a late afternoon nosh and even a bit too much as a side to your office sandwich. The taste speaks to my healthy side and I believe it’s because it didn’t leave my hands greasy and I could actually see the healthy ingredients in the nuggets. The texture, which could be dry, didn’t require a glass of water which makes me think these would be a great snack to carry with you on a hike or long bike ride.
Although I wasn’t moved to acrobatic feats by Somersaults Salty Pepper Nuggets, they were quite enjoyable and I am inspired to try their other flavors like Chez Cocoa and Santa Fe Salsa.

These really sound like a ‘different’ snack. Many flavors in one. I like the fact that they don’t leave your hands greasy too. Can’t wait to pick up a bag!
