Sure, Jaxn’s Twice Baked Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Potato Stix are like a mega-crunchy french fry, but unfortunately they are pretty bland (except for the salt), lack the flavor of cracked pepper and, by all rationale, I should have been ready to stop eating them moments after starting. So why is it that no matter how hard I try, I just can’t stop popping them into my mouth?
I think it could be the salt that keeps me coming back for more. The more I think about it, I actually can’t identify any flavor other than salt without referring to the back of the Jaxn’s Twice Baked Potato Stix Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper bag. All things considered, the sodium content is pretty low (170mg/serving) but the salt flavor is overpowering and where, oh where, is the cracked pepper? It’s advertised in the snack’s title, but I couldn’t taste it at all.
Taste aside, the crunch is what really gets me. It’s so loud that the sound actually rattles around in my brain for the first few chews. Even after the super-crunch is gone, some good crispness remains for the rest of your chew. This could be thanks to the double baking claimed on the bag that not even Kettle Brand Sea Salt and Vinegar Chips can match.
So all this brings be back to what to rate these oddly addictive but bland-ish munchies. When I finish this bag I will probably never buy them again, though this is partly due to how hard they are to come by currently. Jaxn’s Twice Baked Potato Stix are only available at Wegmans, through Jaxn’s wholesale distributors, some small specialty food stores and online at www.jaxns.com. Then there’s the issue of not being able to actually taste the cracked pepper which was unfortunate. Perhaps down the line some new flavors will better accompany their impressive crunch; until then I guess I can wait and hope.

You made some very positive comments for only “2 Chips” and a “boring” analysis.
The only other negative review JAXN’S has received said they were too spicy.
Thanks for taking the time to review.
Thanks for your comment Cathy. While I did have positive comments on the snack crunchyness and salt flavor, that was not enough to bump it up to “3 chips.” Had I tasted even a hint of the cracked pepper that would have been enough for the extra chip. As for reviewing them as too spicy, was that a different flavor of Jaxn’s? I did not even taste a hint of spice in them. For whatever it’s worth though, I did go back and forth between 2 and 3 chips, and it just barely missed.
I do not understand the reviews, I think these snacks are wonderful.
The crunch is fantastic and the flavor is right on.
To each his/her own! I just hope they come up with even more flavors.
