The initial whiff of Estrella Bacon chips as you open the bag is oddly familiar, falling somewhere between uncooked bacon and a deli meat section at your local supermarket. The taste however, loses any relation to the world’s most delicious meat.
Estrella chips “with a taste of bacon” come in a nice bag with a picture of a rolled up, uncooked sliced of bacon on it. The chips themselves are very tiny, which may be part of the reason they aren’t full of flavor. Compared to most of the other chips we’ve tried, they are about 1/3 to 1/2 the size at times.
They are also very thin and leave seasoning all over your hands. Your mind becomes confused because as the chip approaches your mouth, the bacony smell hits your nose, but your tastebuds are deceived once you start chewing. The Estrella bacon chips taste more grill flavor than bacon flavor. Who eats grilled bacon anyway? They should have at least made the chips taste fatty and fried, then maybe the flavor would have hit closer to home.
Estrella chips are sold throughout several European countries as well as Russia and it seems they actually have a grill flavor. I am interested in trying to get a bag so I can see if there is any difference at all or if they decided to simply repackage the same chip. If you want a chip that smells like deli meat and tastes like nothing, I guess this is the chip for you!
man…i didnt know you could find these outside of russia! theyre disgusting! if you really want to experience the depths of russian culinary savagery, try lay’s caviar flavored chips. almost as bad as the “shashlik” flavor.
Wow that sounds pretty interesting, we will see if we can get our hands on some.
Dude! I know what you mean!
I search them, too. But I was in Bulgaria. I live in Germany and nowhere you can find these fuc**** Chips.
Everywhere in the Internet you can find Estrella Chips, but not the Bacon Edition..
