Although half the fun of reviewing munchies is getting to enjoy them, we take reviewing very seriously here at MunchiesBlog. Before any snack is tasted we look at the bag and will include images of both the front and back. We then tempt ourselves by removing a few from the bag but not eating them!
The initial chips, cookies etc we take out are used for pictures. For our initial reviews we are using an AA battery as it is a universal product that will allow everyone to have an idea of how large or small a particular chip is. We choose the chips at random from the bag so sometimes you will see broken ones and other times they will be whole. Finally comes the taste test itself. We try chips individually and account for the crunch factor followed by initial taste and aftertaste. Snacks like like the Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream go through a few taste phases so we want to make sure this is accounted for. We also assess whether the munchies leave a greasy or seasony or crumby residue on your hands, as well as how prevalent it is. Chips and snacks will also be described in terms of the smell of the bag and the feel of the snacks themselves.
Reviews of the snacks are split into five recommendations, Hmmm..That’s Unique, Boring, An Average Snack, Worth a Munch (Recommended) and A Must Munch (Highly Recommended). Because we would never tell anyone to avoid a chip, the unique category is meant for snacks that might not appeal to all tastes, but if you are feeling like something different then they may be worth a try (although it may be quite a risk at times). Boring means it is a pretty plain, not worth going out of your way for, but not necessarily bad.
Snacks are also listed in terms of where they are from, how they are described, as well as what price level they are. We have divided price into standard, high and premium. We will take into account how the price should affect the quality of munchies as well.
In order to see how our personal opinions are compared to others, we may occasionally as a few lucky friends to taste some munchies to see how they react to the flavor, but mostly this is for our entertainment. If you think there is anything we should add to our reviews please let us know, we want this site to be both informative and entertaining so we are open to all ideas!
